Day one!

We slipped from Haslar at c 8.30 this morning and are making very good time in a WNW wind, f 4/5 - up to 9 knots over the ground (with the help of the tide).

The sun is shining and the depression (psychological and meteorological) which set in over the last few grey days is gone as we start to make real progress.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to the total raised to date, which I understand is now over £9,000 - please keep it up! I think now is the time to change the target to £20k!!

We're 'running before the wind' with a 'following sea' which often towers up ominously behind us, but it's great sailing and just what I needed after the last few days stuck in Haslar in the rain! We should reach Eastbourne c. 1600 hrs.
